“Variety” magazine reported this week that actor Anthony Hopkins has listed his Point Dume bluff-top home for $11.5 million. He originally bought the property in 2001 for about $3.8 million. The two-story traditional residence, built in the 1950s, is roughly 4,000 square feet with five bedrooms and five bathrooms and sits on an acre of tree-shaded gardens with fabulous views.
Hopkins, 82, won the 1992 best actor Oscar for his performance in “Silence of the Lambs” and has since been nominated for his performance in four other films: “The Remains of the Day,” “Nixon,” “Amistad,” and “The Two Popes.” He has 138 acting credits in film and TV beginning in 1960, including recent stints on the “Westworld” TV show and the film “Thor: Ragnarok.” Hopkins was knighted in 1993 by Queen Elizabeth II.
Hopkins and his wife, Stella, have apparently set their sights on living in Pacific Palisades. In late 2016, they dropped $1.1 million on a two-bedroom condo there. In late 2018, they built a $6.6 million contemporary residence in one of the Palisades’ most sought-after neighborhoods and in early in 2019, spent another $6 million for the 1940s property next door.
The Malibu property is listed with Santiago Arana of The Agency.
