Gray Davis signed AB1548, a bill that requires state agencies to develop environmental education principles for elementary and secondary schools. The bill is a result of a year-long fight led by Heal the Bay, in conjunction with National Geographic, Cal-EPA and Assemblymember Fran Pavley (D-Agoura Hills) to incorporate environmental education curriculum into California state schools.

In a show of support for the bill, Malibu residents Pierce and Keely Brosnan attended the signing.
