Longtime Malibu resident and community favorite Greg Joujon-Roche passed away after a long battle with cancer on July 31, 2016. He was 49 years old.
“Malibu will now have one less bright light,” a loved one said. “He has been set free.”
“Always the epitome of optimism, Greg continued to love life throughout his courageous fight, never once complaining, unless of course it was too windy for a paddle or a surf,” said his sister, Aynee Osborn.
Greg’s love of the sea was born on Kauai back in the early 1970s, where he lived with his mom and sister on a big compound. Greg lived all over the world in his early years as a model and then came back to Los Angeles to become an elite fitness trainer and business owner in the health and wellness industry. He had books published and fitness videos all over the web.
Greg is survived by his wife, Irma, their two children, Dylan and Helena, his mother, Sharon, and father, Pierre, his stepmom, Nancy, his devoted sister, Aynee, and her wife, Ketty.
Greg was the ultimate waterman, always maintaining, “All I want to do is surf.”
“His respect, love and understanding for the sea was only paralleled by that which he showed to those who he encountered on a daily basis,” a loved one said. “There is no doubt he is now part of something much larger and more beautiful. May he forever be in peace, at home, in the sea. RIP, our beautiful friend.”
A memorial to celebrate Greg’s life is scheduled to take place September 10, 2016, place and time TBD.
