WISH FULFILLMENT

Hollywood heavyweights, civic leaders and celebrities turned out at the Beverly Hilton to toast Legendary Pictures Chairman and CEO Thomas Tull. Kate Beckinsale, Christian Blade and Sinbad joined Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, Los Angeles Police Chief William Bratton and wife Rikki Klieman for the annual Stars 2008 Benefit Gala.

Tull has had a hand in a string of blockbuster flicks including “The Dark Knight,” “300” and “Batman Begins.” He joins a prestigious roster of past honorees including Malibu notables Brian Grazer, Candy Spelling and Jeffrey Katzenberg.

Eight hundred guests attended the all-star evening, with Ryan Seacrest as emcee and Sinbad taking on the auction duties. Wells Fargo’s Shelley Freeman was also on the honor role. She was presented with the Gary Gitnick Visionary Award.

The Fulfillment Fund is dedicated to helping disadvantaged students graduate from high school and complete college. The organization had special words of thanks for this year’s award recipients, and said, “Each of our honorees has demonstrated a long-standing commitment to our underserved youth. We are truly grateful to have their unparalleled support.”

The evening wrapped up with a little bad moon rising and a special concert by fortunate son John Fogerty.

YOU GOTTA SEE THE PICTURES

Every month you can always count on Vanity Fair to come up with a clever cover that’s intriguing, pretty or pretty provocative. If you’re a VF fan, you won’t want to miss the current exhibition of fantastic photos at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.

There’s a lot more than those artistic nudes of Scarlett Johansson and Keira Knightley. The VF photo tradition dates back to 1913. You’ll find a bewitching image of Gloria Swanson taken by Edward Steichen in 1924. Cary Grant looks his dapper best in George Hoyningen-Huene’s outdoor portrait, while Nickolas Muray captured Douglas Fairbanks Jr. and Joan Crawford taking a breather on the beach.

Jean Harlow at home is a classic, with the blond bombshell decked out on a bear skin rug. Other famous faces in the 130-image exhibit include Josephine Baker, Louis Armstrong, Picasso, Albert Einstein, James Joyce and Jesse Owens.

It’s the first major show to bring together the magazine’s historic archive of rare and vintage prints along with its contemporary photos by acclaimed shutterbugs like Annie Leibovitz and Mario Testino.

So if you’re up for an amazing look at celebrities this holiday season-snap to it!

The Vanity Fair Portrait exhibit runs through March 1 at LACMA.favorites from around the globe and even a visit from Saint Nick. Ho, Ho, Ho!
