The Varsity football team defeated Santa Clara, 47-28, on Friday to earn the team a bid to the CIF playoffs. The game began by honoring graduating seniors; each senior player received a rose as he ran across the field. As a special way to start the game, a medical response helicopter hovered over the 50-yard line and dropped the game ball into play.
During the game, Jeremy Kent rushed for 215 yards and scored 5 touchdowns. Tomasso Trento had two interceptions and scored two touchdowns, with the final touchdown being the most spectacular. The setting sun provided a perfect backdrop for quarterback Karsten Demers’ 30-yard pass to Trento who made the final touchdown in the waning minutes of the game.
The team will travel to Temecula this Friday night for the 1st round contest against Linfield Christian, the number one seed in division 13. The Sharks finished the regular season 4-4-1, the best season for the team thus far.
