Malibu’s Top Ten Books

With mostly foggy weather at the beach this summer, catching up on reading is even easier this year. The fiction and children’s bestsellers have been pretty consistent the last couple of months, with series books in both categories-Stieg Larsson, Percy Jackson and Wimpy Kids-occupying readers’ time. Recommended by Southern California Independent Booksellers as part of the “SoCal, So Cool, So Readable” program, “Point Dume,” “Blame” and “Crazy for the Storm” are bestsellers in fiction and nonfiction this month. The nonfiction list is filled with many new titles, some paperback reprints, but many new hardback titles as well. Besides “Crazy for the Storm,” a local favorite, there is exciting, engaging writing to be read between the covers of “Orange Sunshine,” “The Art of Travel” and “The Lost City of Z.”
