William “Bill” Charles Korb of Malibu passed away on June 8 at Los Robles Hospital in Thousand Oaks. He was 83.
Korb was born on April 6, 1932 in Brooklyn, N.Y. He was appointed by the New York State Senator in 1950 to attend the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, N.Y., where he graduated with an engineering degree in 1954. During his college years, Korb was the editing photographer for the school paper, mascot keeper and captain of the pistol team.
After serving time in the Navy, Korb married his wife June, whom he met on a blind date while in service in California. Korb then went on to receive his master’s degree at Stevens Institute.
Korb, June and their four kids moved from New York to Malibu in 1971 and called Point Dume their home. The Korbs traveled often throughout the years, from camping to cruising with family and friends.
Korb is survived by wife of 57 years, June; children Judy (Cuff), John and Paddy (Warner); five grandchildren Ananda, Steven, Ryan, Matthew and Ethan. He was preceded in death by his oldest daughter, Kathy.

A memorial service will take place Saturday, Aug. 22 at the Malibu Presbyterian Church on Malibu Canyon Road at 2 p.m.
