Jerry Pritchett, Malibu real estate icon and founder of Pritchett Rapf and Associates, died March 29 at the age of 90. Pritchett was born in Long Beach, Calif. He attended L.A. High School and from there went directly into the Marine Corps to become a fighter pilot, flying Corsairs in the Pacific during WWII. After the war, he began selling real estate in Westwood before meeting and marrying his wife Patty. After combining their two families, Jerry became permanently involved in Malibu and Malibu real estate. He was an active member of the Board of Realtors, serving as president and state director. He was also the first charter president of the Malibu Rotary club. But it was the love of his wife and family that he was most proud of.
“‘Big Jer’ at 6’2” and Patty at 4’11” were quite the duo. They had their hands full with four girls and two boys. Combining discipline and humor, this dynamic duo made it all work. He was a role model and knew the meaning of hard work and love of life. He provided the family with a very blessed and fortunate home on Trancas Beach,” his family wrote. “He will be missed tremendously.”
Jerry passed away March 29 after almost 50 years of marriage and family life on the beach, joining his beloved wife, angels Lynda and Remy, and other family members and friends in heaven. He will always be remembered as a kind and loving father, grandfather, friend and neighbor.
He is survived by his children, Gayle, Priscilla, Jenny, Jack and Scott, and his grandchildren Prairie, Kate, Cutter, Cassidy and Jesse.
