Fuel for thought

In deference to Pam Linn, I submit that hydrogen peroxide, H202, is an unstable compound that has been used as an oxidizing agent to accelerate the violent burning of fuel in the propellant systems of the German V-2 rocket and the USAF X-15 rocket plane. Clearly, not the watered down “benign ingredient” drugstore variety.

Speaking of hydrogen, beware of hydrogen powered cars. When hydrogen and the oxygen in the air combine in the combustion process, water is formed which will spew out the tail pipe. The result, on warm days, our highway corridors will be shrouded in killer fog resulting in massive pile-ups and on cold nights the water vapor will condense, turning our highways into black ice rinks and automatically turning cars into off-road vehicles.

Hydrogen is the lightest of all gases so in its free form it will float to the top of the atmosphere to become ionized. We therefore have to find it in compounds, the most abundant being water, H20. Electrolysis is used to separate out the hydrogen and since no conversion process is 100 percent efficient it will require more energy to separate the hydrogen from water than will be produced by the automobile engine burning it.

Therefore, using hydrogen as a fuel only moves the pollution spewing out car tail pipes to even more pollution spewing out the generating stations chimney pipe. A negative net gain.
