What happens next?

Having just realized the implications of the election on Measure M, I have decided that it is almost like a recall election because after you vote “yes” on Measure M-as the City Council wants you to do-you really don’t know what you’re getting next.

Supposedly, the city will deliver a detailed plan for a state of the art integrated waste management facility to the state departments and commissions for review and analysis. This plan is supposed to meet all the requirements for cleansing the creek, lagoon, and Surfrider Beach, as well as disposing of all septic pollution in the area including all new development. This is all supposed to get done within three years of my “yes” vote. And then the State will help the city get the funds needed to purchase the Chili Cook-Off site for $25 million. And then the Malibu Bay Company makes a lot of money.

But, if the City can’t raise the $25 million to purchase the Chili Cook-Off site within three years, the Malibu Bay Company gets to build 185,000 sq. ft. on the Chili Cook-Off site, and, of course, the Malibu Bay Company makes a lot of money. All this says to me, vote “no” on Measure M.
