ERB to discuss Schultz Project
The Environmental Review Board will discuss recommendations for the Schultz Development Agreement on Wednesday at 9 a.m. in City Hall. Those recommendations will then be included in the staff report when the project goes before the Planning Commission. The Draft Environmental Impact Report for the project is also supposed to be released soon.
The development agreement allows for the construction of a 20,850-square-foot office building and a 16,000-square-foot Longs Drug Store on a 3.37-acre property northwest of the intersection of Civic Center Way and Cross Creek Road. As a public benefit, the Schultz family would construct a park as an add-on to the Papa Jack’s Skate Park on a 2.3-acre site in the same area as the buildings would be.
Planning Commissioner to step down
Commissioner Chair David Fox will not seek a second term on the Planning Commission. Fox made the announcement at a commission meeting last month, citing that he has been unable to see his family much because of the great amount of work for a commissioner. He said his decision had nothing to do with politics.
Fox was appointed to the commission by Councilmember Jeff Jennings in 2000. His term ends next month when the councilmembers are expected to name new appointments to the various city commissions.
Books to boost troop morale
A local resident is collecting paperback books to deliver them to Marines in Iraq to boost morale.
Richard Robinson plans to deliver the donated books to Camp Pendleton for shipment overseas next month. Donated books will be passed around to an unlimited number of soldiers.
Book donations can be dropped in specially marked containers at the Agoura Hills/Calabasas Community Center at 27040 Malibu Hills Rd. or the Calabasas Tennis and Swim Center, located at 23400 Park Sorrento. Books need to be paperback so soldiers can carry them in their backpacks. You can also have your business or organization serve as a book pickup site for large donations by contacting Richard Robinson at 818.222.4316.
