Malibu Seen: Grammy Round Up

You can always look to Malibu’s Lady Gaga to make a flashy fashion statement on the red carpet.

Never count out our local Lady Gaga on the red carpet. At the Grammys, she turned up in thigh high leather boots, a micro mini skirt, a fuzzy black sweater and not much else. From see-through gauze to meat dresses, she always makes a statement. Of all the award shows, the Grammys is a time to let your hair down on the fashion front. CeeLo Green looked like a Marvel Comics villain head to toe in a gold metallic aluminum space suit, complete with scary, full head mask. Girl Crush wanted you to take out a paddle board and play ball with her gown of colorful oversized ping pong balls. The red carpet did not disappoint.

Neither did the Grammys; A-list stars take their highest profile risks in a night of fun, celebration and revelry.

The night’s big contest belonged to British balladeer Adele and Queen Bey Beyoncé.

Adele swept the song, record and album of the year categories. Beyoncé came away with a pair, but not before getting huge accolades from her biggest fan, Adele. Adele picked up a perfect five-for-five, while Beyoncé took home two at the 59th Annual Grammy Awards at the Staples Center. Both stars made numerous costume changes, with Beyoncé bedecked in an Indian exotic costume showing off her double lovely tummy carrying a pair of twins. Nominated for nine awards in total, Beyoncé’s hit “Lemonade” picked up the prize for urban alternative album, while “Formation” won for best music video award.

Adele not only won points for style but also for having the courage to restart her tribute to the late star George Michael, which she began off key and wanted to sound perfect.

There were tributes to superstars who are no longer with us like David Bowie and Prince.

Speaking of Bowie, his final album “Blackstar” snagged five Grammy awards for alternative music album, rock performance, rock song, engineered nonclassical performance and recording package.

In addition to Adele winning Album of the Year for “25,” Record of the Year and Song of the Year for “Hello,” Pop Vocal Album for “25” and more, Best New Artist went to “Chance the Rapper,” Rap Performance went to “No Problem” and Country Album went to “A Sailor’s Guide to Earth.”

Funny man James Cordon did a stellar job as host. At one time he even brought his famed “Carpool Karaoke” down the aisle, picking up Jennifer Lopez and pals along with Neil Diamond for a rendition of “Sweet Caroline” and got the whole center singing along. What else can you say than good times never felt so good!
