Last year's Lions Club flea market attracted a large crowd in the Civic Center. '

Club members are busily working to prepare for the 31st annual Malibu Lions Club Marketplace and Flea Market, which will take place on Sept. 28 at the Malibu Civic Center. The event is the club’s lone annual fundraiser, providing the resources for the Lions to live out their motto of “We Serve” to support local Malibu community needs. Examples of some of the recent local support provided by the Lions include helping families address immediate needs following last year’s devastating wildfires, sponsoring the training of guide dogs for sight-impaired individuals, sponsoring two Malibu Little League teams, sponsoring campers to attend Camp Bloomfield for the sight-impaired and hosting an annual Christmas party for underprivileged children.

The Lions have been busily rounding up an eclectic group of more than 100 vendors to share their wares with Malibu. Anticipated available goods include antiques, crafts, jewelry, clothing and many other items.

There will also be the famous pancake breakfast, including pancakes with the fixings, sausage juice and coffee for five dollars. Also back by popular demand this year are the Lions Dogs-no, not Dodger Dogs, but Lions Dogs-following on the heels of the pancake breakfast. A grilled hot dog (never boiled), chips and a cold drink will be available for five dollars. Parking is also five dollars.

The market will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, call 818.992.6262.
