Fundraiser to support arts education

More than 75 world-class contemporary paintings, sculptures and photographs will be auctioned at the Track 16 Gallery at Bergamont Station on Oct. 11 to raise money for art programs in the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District.

The auction will include works by local artists John Baldessari, Larry Bell, Karen Carson, Tony Berlant, Ed Ruscha, Julius Shulman, June Wayne, Peter Alexander and Lita Albuquerque.

It will be an elegant evening hosted by For The Arts, a program working to create a permanent endowment fund to support music, visual arts, dance and drama in the SMMUSD schools. The evening will include wine, Ginger Margaritas by Elixir G. and hors d’oeuvres by Joe’s Restaurant and Joe’s soon to open Bar Pintxo. The Santa Monica High School String Quintet will perform.

The festivities begin at 6 p.m., with the auction commencing at 8:15 p.m. The gallery is located at 2525 Michigan Ave. C1 in Santa Monica. Tickets to the event are $125. To reserve a spot for the evening or for more information, call Linda Gross at 310.396.4557.
