The Malibu High School boys basketball team won its season opener Wednesday night against Sherman Oaks Center for Enriched Studies, 86-47, at the Viewpoint High tournament.
Seniors Ryan Walczuk and Chris Peck each scored 18 points leading five Malibu players that scored in double figures. Peck added 10 rebounds and sophomore Chandler Abbott had 14 points and 11 rebounds.
The Sharks got off to a quick start leading 23-16 after one quarter and extending the advantage to 21 points by halftime before cruising the rest of the game. Malibu continued the tournament through Saturday at Viewpoint.
The first home game for the Sharks is Dec. 12 against Valley Torah at 8 p.m.
