The board of the Point Dume Community Association wishes to thank Ken Miller and Bob Carmichael for their efforts in opposing the installation of Sprint cell sites on Point Dume. The beneficial result of their action was the positive response by the City Council to amend regulations on cell site installation.
Under the new regulations, Sprint, PCS and other cell carriers will be required to install utility cabinets in underground vaults instead of above ground whenever feasible. The existing sites on Point Dume that will remain above ground provide ample evidence of the eyesores that would have resulted if Ken and Bob had not persisted in this effort.
