The Pepperdine University baseball team has signed Pomona native Jon Reid for the 2014 season. Reid, a pitcher, is a two-year letter-winner at Bonita High School and a two-time all-Sierra League selection. Last summer, he competed for the San Gabriel Valley Arsenal and Mariners Select squads and played in the 2012 Angels Elite and the SoCalScoutBall All- Star Game.
“I chose Pepperdine because of the academic reputation of the university, the athletic tradition of Pepperdine, the quality and reputation of the Wave coaching staff and the fact that Pepperdine is a Christian, faith-based institution,” Reid said. “It is important to me that Pepperdine is in a good, competitive conference, and the view from the ballpark is hard to beat.”
