Despite rain and thunderstorms, locals and visitors made their way down to Surfrider Beach on Saturday and Sunday for the annual “Call to the Wall” charity surf event, hosted by Malibu Boardriders Club.

Malibu Boardriders Club hosted the 24th annual “Call to the Wall” surf competition at Surfrider Beach this past weekend. Surfers came from all around to compete in this two-day event. Although it was a good turnout for this longstanding competition, the surf conditions were less than adequate.

Small surf, thunderstorms, rain and lightening ultimately shut the competition down on Saturday, when LAFD lifeguards closed all Los Angeles County beaches. Spirits weren’t damped by the effects of Hurricane Dolores, and the competition and festivities continued when it was once again safe to ride the waves in Malibu.

Proceeds from “Call to the Wall” will benefit Hope’s Haven and Best Day Foundation.
