Keep them out, some will shout,
While others want them in.
The polarizing of our town,
Continues thick and thin.
The ballot measures soon reveal,
How deep the split can be –
Along with the aggravation,
Of too many SUVs.
More growth, building, and more cars,
Produce some deep concerns.
While others want the income,
And money, tourists burn.
And growth produces taxes,
That the politicians love–
Creating a higher tax base,
Like a gift from up above!
And so, our Malibu will go,
Like all Big Cities do.
I’ll have to hold my breath, and wait,
And see what’s coming due.
