There was a weekend-long celebration at the grand opening of Hip’tique, a women’s clothing, swim and lifestyle boutique located in the Trancas Country Market.

On Thursday night, Malibu locals, visitors, family and friends joined the festivities that included cocktails, light appetizers from Kristy’s, a DJ and live music, and a silk screening demonstration in conjunction with pop-up gallery Way Way Out There’s opening reception for artist Andy Davis’ EYE YI YI Art Show.

The owner of Hip’tique, Christine Berardi, said she was overjoyed to open a store located in Malibu in addition to her Santa Monica location — both stores less than a block from the ocean.

“A Santa Monica customer moved to the area and highly recommended Trancas Country Market. When I came to see it a few days later, I instantly fell in love and knew I had to open there,” Berardi explained.

One of the hits of the party was the pink plastic flamingo and giant beach balls spread throughout the lawn in the Trancas Country Market courtyard. Children flocked to the colorful display, jumping, riding and tossing the flamingos and balls.

“Our Matthew Williamson wallpaper with pink flamingos became such a topic of conversation we decided to keep going with the concept and brought it outdoors,” Berardi  shared.

The festivities continued throughout the weekend with live music by local bands, art activities with Andy Davis, children’s art and crafts hosted by 98% Angel, Rosé All Day hosted by Bu Beach House and more.

“Getting to know all of our neighboring businesses and customers has been amazing — everyone has been incredibly welcoming. As a small business, it has meant the world to us,” Berardi said.
