After winning eight straight and 12 of its last 13 games, the Pepperdine baseball has proven to be a dominant team on the national horizon.
The Waves are currently ranked 24th overall in the Collegiate Baseball Poll. On April 7, pitcher Aaron Brown was named WCC pitcher of the week after allowing only one unearned run and five hits in eight innings of work against Saints Mary’s to complete a sweep.
A main reason for the Waves success has been pitching. Over the last three weeks, Pepperdine only allowed opponents to score more than three runs once while still holding onto the win. They limited teams such as USC (4-3), Saint Mary’s (6-2, 8-1), and Portland (6-0, 1-0, 6-1).
Pepperdine lost to BYU on Thursday, 1-0, to snap an eight-game winning streak. They play the second game of the three game series Friday at 3 p.m.
After the series, the Waves travel to Cal State Northridge on Tuesday to take on the Matadors.Â
