The Malibu Baha’i community recently celebrated Twin Holy Days to honor the births of their prophet founders— the Bab and Baha’u’llah.

Pepperdine students from Professor John Barton’s world religions class were invited to attend the event, which took place at the home of a local Baha’i community member and consisted of prayers, writings and a talk by UCLA professor Nader Saiedi. Saiedi spoke about the significance of both prophets and cited their original writings. Most of the guests in attendance were learning of the Baha’i faith for the first time.

“[The event] allowed me to get a better sense of the religious diversity here in Malibu and to reflect on the significance of interfaith dialogue with others who have different beliefs than myself,” Pepperdine student Samantha Lee said.

The Baha’i faith is the world’s newest religion and has followers in every country. Adherents believe that all religions are from one God and that world unity and peace can be achieved when humans realize their spiritual nature.
