The City of Malibu hosted the final CineMalibu film screening of the summer on Saturday evening, featuring animated film “Toy Story.” Malibu locals and visitors grabbed a blankets and chairs and made their way to Bluffs Park on one of the warmest nights in Malibu.
“This was one of the largest attended CineMalibu events the Parks and Recreation Department has seen in recent years,” City of Malibu Recreation Supervisor Kristin Riesgo shared. “Some people said that they wanted to get outside and enjoy the warm night and full moon.”
Festivities for the evening included children’s activities, a selection of food trucks and shopping at clothing truck 27 Miles. “Toy Story” star Woody, AKA Richie Olson, made a guest appearance and walked around the park, greeting delighted kids — some decked out in their finest cowgirl and cowboy attire.
In addition to all the fun festivities, CineMalibu hosted a toy drive in memory of Jonah Stern, a Webster Elementary School student who passed away from cancer. All donations from the toy drive will benefit the Los Angeles Children’s Hospital. “CineMalibu has been a great, free, family event that the City of Malibu has supplemented the last nine years,” Riesgo shared. “It is nice to see families and friends come together, enjoy the park, spend time outdoors, and relax.”
