Local equestrian Jamie Barge is one of 10 show jumping athletes nominated to the FEI World Equestrian Games (WEG) Tryon 2019 NetJets U.S. Show Jumping Team Short List. The announcement was made by the U.S. Equestrian Federation on April 30.

The WEG are held every four years, and combine multiple equestrian disciplines, including jumping, dressage, para-equestrian dressage, eventing, driving, endurance, vaulting and reining. This year, the games take place Sept. 11-23.

To qualify, the Malibuite will compete at two show jumping events; four are being held throughout the summer at locations such as Poland, the Netherlands, Germany and Ireland.

She recently placed 16th among 40 riders at the prestigious 2018 Longines FEI World Cup held in Paris, France, in early April. Barge, who is severely hearing impaired, was only one of 11 riders on the U.S. team.
