Small Brushfire Contained Off Mulholland Highway Near Malibu Wines

A small brushfire broke out off of Mulholland Highway near Malibu Wines in Malibu on Thursday afternoon, spreading to about 50 square yards.

The flames, which began as a car fire, were reported at 3:46 p.m. in the 31000 block of Mulholland Highway, according to an L.A. County Fire spokesperson. The fire quickly spread from the car to nearby brush but was 100 percent contained as of 4 p.m.

It’s not known if traffic was affected on Mulholland.

Malibu Wines took to Facebook to thank first responders who were at the scene.

Thank you L.A. County Fire Department and the L.A. County Sheriffs Department for helping us contain a situation that could have been much worse,” the vineyard wrote.
