Standing On Stone (SOS) Community Outreach has been serving the homeless community in Malibu for 17 years. SOS started in the Malibu City Hall building that was originally the Malibu Vineyard church. We are a 100 percent volunteer, nonprofit organization and rely solely on donations.
SOS has always been part of the solution to the homeless “problem.” Over the years, we have helped hundreds of individuals and families transform their lives and get off the streets of Malibu. We’ve sent many people home to other states to be reunited with their families. In the past year alone, we’ve helped 10 individuals get off the street and into their own apartments.
SOS is not just about serving dinner on Thursday nights; it is an opportunity for the members of the Malibu community to come together to help and serve. It is a safe place for the downtrodden and less fortunate to find a community of fellowship, friendship and spirituality. SOS is a place where these individuals can receive a warm, genuine hug, a listening ear and a bible study where they can receive inspiration, pray, and get prayed for.
For some, this is the highlight of their week where they feel loved and welcomed. For most, it is the hope that keeps them from drowning in pain.
We want to work together in partnership with the city, Malibu community and other organizations who share the same vision, to continue the good work of serving and loving our homeless.
