UPDATE-9:15 p.m.: Traffic backed up after major collision at Tuna Canyon

Westbound traffic is backed up past Sunset Blvd. as of 9 p.m. Tuesday evening after a two-car collision near Tuna Canyon on Pacific Coast Highway occurred shortly after 5 p.m. Sgt. Prince of the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station said two people have been transported to a hospital, but the extent of their injures is unknown. The accident occurred in the westbound lanes, and both westbound lanes are currently closed. All westbound traffic from Santa Monica and Pacific Palisades is being routed through Topanga Canyon to the 101 Freeway. Eastbound traffic from Malibu to Santa Monica is moving, although it is backed up to Big Rock Drive. Check back with the Malibu Times for more information as it becomes available.
