Claremont resident Sarah Rockne rallied her family together to gather donations for those affected by the November Woolsey Fire. In an email to The Malibu Times, Malibu’s Kelly Kincaid said, “Sarah believed that involving her children in the generous act would be a learning act of kindness for all of those involved.”
The group created care bags for children who either lost homes or were displaced due to the fire.
The bags were successfully delivered to the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District’s “Friendsgiving” celebration. Rockne then reached out to the Claremont Unified School District and secured support from schools in the district to create more care packages, which she then hand-delivered to Juan Cabrillo Elementary School with her mom in mid-December.
