High surf advisory in effect for Malibu

The National Weather Service has issued a high surf advisory for Malibu from five p.m. Wednesday until five p.m. Friday. The advisory states that waves between five and eight feet will be possible Thursday. The advisory also states that “a very long period of southwest swell will create a high risk for rip currents at area beaches.” Beachgoers are advised to take precautions when swimming.
