Malibu resident Daniel Jacoby died March 13 of a terminal brain tumor.

Jacoby, was born Oct. 26, 1965 to Janine and David Jacoby. He majored in biomedical engineering at UC San Diego, and graduated Phi Beta Kappa, Magna Cum Laude. Upon graduation, he was employed by the XP Corporation, and not long after, founded Digital Insight, a pioneering Internet banking company, with his friend, Paul Fiore. Eventually, they sold the company, and Jacoby retired to Malibu at age 35. Jacoby also helped found and later became president of the Wellness Center Ventura and Valley Chapter.

He has given generously to the Malibu Jewish Center and Synagogue, with a donation needed to complete fundraising for the new preschool playground. Jacoby spent his last months focusing on his dream to establish an national interdenominational summer camp for children of all religions, based on the need for multicultural understanding. “Interfaith Inventions” was formed before he died. A story on “Interfaith Inventions” will be published in a future issue of The Malibu Times.

A private memorial for Jacoby took place last weekend.
