Malibu resident Michael E. Tennenbaum joined the Smithsonian National Board Oct. 1 for a three-year term. He was appointed to the board last spring by the Smithsonian Institution’s Board of Regents, the Smithsonian’s governing body.
The Smithsonian National Board is a volunteer advisory board that aids the Smithsonian Institution, helping to build an understanding of the institution’s mission in local communities as well as gain financial support. The board, established in 1970, is comprised of members from throughout the United States.
The Smithsonian, located in Washington, D.C., and founded in 1846, is the world’s largest museum and research complex.
Tennenbaum is senior managing partner and founder of Tennenbaum Capital Partners, LLC. He is also a member of the Secretary of the Navy Advisory Panel, a vice chairman of the Board of Governors of the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, a vice chairman and treasurer of the Los Angeles World Affairs Council and a member of the UCLA School of Medicine Board of Visitors.
Tennenbaum graduated from Georgia Institute of Technology and received his master’s degree in business administration from Harvard University.
