Johanna Spinks, local portrait artist, will give a demonstration at the Malibu Art Association’s regular meeting Feb. 24 at the Point Dume Club Recreation Room.
Spinks, who formerly worked as a makeup artist in the entertainment industry, works full time painting classical portraits. Spinks’ work, which also includes still life and landscape paintings, has been featured in the New York Times. She has also received recognition from American Artist Magazine, Art Talk, Oil Painters of America and the California Art Club. Spinks has taught at the California Art Institute, Westlake Village and the Los Angeles Academy of Figurative Art in Van Nuys. The Malibu Art Association regular meeting is Feb. 24 at the Point Dume Club Rec. Room, 29500 Heathercliff Rd., at 1:30 p.m.
