Once again our elected state legislators, state Sen. Sheila Kuehl and Assemblywoman Fran Pavley, have put the interests of others ahead of Malibu. Both of them have come out against the proposed widening of the Ventura Freeway, listening to the voices of the literally “Not in my backyard” naysayers.
This much needed improvement to this perpetually crowded freeway would do much to alleviate the “Z” traffic which accounts for 85 percent of the traffic on PCH in Malibu, as people in the West Valley try to get to the west side of Los Angeles during rush hour each weekday morning, and vice versa in the afternoon.
Kuehl, listening to the squeaky wheel voices of the NIMBYs, in fact, did a complete flip flop, having enthusiastically endorsed the proposal just last week. When are the people we in Malibu elected to represent us in Sacramento actually going to do so? Or is Malibu just not important to them?
