Local GOP honors frequent letter writers

Two young sisters who wrote 97 cards to U.S. Troops at their school’s Family Fair in the spring and their family were honored guests at the grand opening of the Malibu/Bel-Air headquarters of the Republic Women, Federated at Point Dume Plaza.

Mary Basilious, 9, who wrote more than 75 cards, and her sister Elizabeth, 7, are students at Village Christian Schools in Sunland. They are children of Sam H. B. Basilious and his wife Dan Dan, who teaches at the school. The family was chosen for the honor by Sandi Zorn and Cindy Linke, Republican Women, Federated members who had a “Support Our Troops” booth at the school fair. Both parents said that even at Mary’s young age, she is always compassionate and devotes a great deal of energy helping anyone in need.

Malibu/Bel-Air Republican Woman, Federated headquarters in Point Dume Plaza will be open weekdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Visitors, regardless of political affiliation, are welcome to drop by.
