It wasn’t total domination for the Pepperdine University men’s volleyball team, but the top-seeded Waves did not have much trouble putting away UC Santa Barbara Thursday night at Firestone Fieldhouse in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation semifinal match, winning 3-1 (30-23, 24-30, 30-26, 30-20). The victory brought the Waves record to 26-1, and increases their winning streak to 23 matches.
Pepperdine faces UC Irvine in the MPSF championship match on Saturday in Malibu at 7 p.m. The Anteaters overcame a 2 games to 1 deficit to defeated Brigham Young University in their semifinal match. The winner of Saturday’s contest earns an automatic berth into the NCAA national semifinals in Columbus, Ohio. However, the loser likely will also be headed to the Final Four, as the wild card team.
