California Wildlife Center Hosts 16th Annual Wildlife Brunch

The California Wildlife Center (CWC) hosted its 16th annual Call of the Wild – Wildlife Brunch fundraiser on Sunday, Sept. 14. at Gull’s Way Estate in Malibu. Approximately 600 people attended the event, which included silent and live auctions, food from local vendors, and a kid’s wild zone, featuring face painting, crafts, and live animals. There were also psychic readings and light energy healing sessions. Food vendors included Marmalade Café, Kristy’s, Casa Escobar and Beachy Cream Organic Ice Cream, among others. 

Actor/Director Shannen Doherty won the Hawk Release prize in the live auction. Doherty helped Dr. Duane Tom safely release CWC’s rehabilitated Cooper’s Hawk in Malibu. Over the past 16 years, the CWC has been responsible for the rescue of more than 37,000 animals, with more than 4,600 animals cared for in 2013.
