The Malibu High School girls basketball team had an excellent opening league game last week on Tuesday, defeating Grace Brethern 55 to 22. Building on their record season last year, which earned the school its second CIF playoff run, the Sharks had a good pre-season. Point guard Cheyenne Weekley is the team’s scoring leader, followed by Dominique Magee and freshman Danielle Bush. Scoring in Tuesday’s game were Weekley with 28 points, Magee with 12, Bush with 2, Lauren Aheran with 7, Crystal Alexander with 4, and TJ Corrodi with 2. Commenting on the girls’ performance, coach Andy Meyer said, “It was a great team effort. Everyone contributed.”
