The Kentucky Derby met Malibu at the first annual Derby Day LA event on May 7 at Saddlerock Ranch.
Over 400 Angelenos dressed in derby day fashion to attend the event, which featured an open bar, live music by local bluegrass band The Get Down Boys, a live DJ, race coverage, fashion contests and food trucks. The group gathered together in the middle of the day to watch the Running of the Roses on an oversized LED board.
A portion of proceeds from ticket sales benefitted Canter California, an organization that helps transition thoroughbred race horses into new careers when they finish racing, and RideOn, a charity that teaches adaptive horseback riding to those with disabilities.
