The Malibu Township Council expresses its appreciation to Mr. Perenchio for the generous contribution of his 10-acre golf course as open land for the Malibu community. We add to that our appreciation that Mr. Perenchio has volunteered to make sure that while the donated land remains in its present form as a golf course, its continued use will not impact the quality of the adjoining lagoon, wetland and ocean. Although the Malibu Township Council has prominently opposed the development activities of the Malibu Bay Co. owned by Mr. Perenchio, this action deserves acknowledgement and recognition of the environmental and civic benefit bestowed by Mr. Perenchio on the entire Malibu Community. To further enhance his environmental status, we would encourage Mr. Perenchio to offer another of his Malibu properties for dedication, in particular the Chili Cook-off site, as parks and open space to preserve the natural attributes of Malibu that are attractive to residents and the millions of annual visitors.
