Members of the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District Board of Education held a special closed session on Oct. 4, in an effort to hire a candidate to fill the superintendent position currently held by Interim Co-Superintendents Dr. Chris King and Dr. Sylvia G. Rousseau.
Goals for the closed session were to review candidate applications submitted by the Sept. 23 deadline alongside consultants hired from Leadership Associates, and to select the finalists to be interviewed.Â
A date has yet to be determined for a follow-up closed session to interview the finalists. The next school board meeting will be held on Oct. 6 at 5:30 p.m. in the Malibu City Council Chambers.
