Elizabeth "Libby" Sparks-Lippman

Elizabeth “Libby” Sparks-Lippman died March 26 at home in Malibu. Libby was born Elizabeth Ann Coombs on Jan. 14, 1933, in Memphis, Tenn. 

Her mother and father were Edwin Coombs and Elizabeth Gooch. She attended elementary school in Memphis and Texas, attended University of Tennessee, and graduated from UC Berkeley with a teaching credential. She taught in Paris, France; Japan; and California. In the 1980s, she was very active in PTA activities and leadership for Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District.

After taking real estate courses and receiving a real estate license, she worked for Malibu Realty for six years.

Libby loved to travel; she and second husband Peter Lippman travelled around the world during 23 years of marriage. She also spent 30 years participating in volunteer work at the Siddha Yoga Meditation Center.

Her children are Scott Sparks, Becki Sparks-Mourino and Beth Sparks-McCleary. With five grandchildren, she was kept very busy and engaged. She died quietly at home under Hospice care with her family around her.
