Joyce “Joycee” Ann Ellis, a longtime resident of Malibu, passed away on July 25 at St. Alexius hospital in Illinois after a two and a half year battle with Alzheimer’s. She was 82 years old.
Born on Feb. 21, 1933, Ellis’ family described the joy and laughter she brought with her wherever she went. “She would give you her last dime if she thought you needed it,” a loved one shared about Ellis’ generosity. “She never met a stranger that she didn’t talk to. If you were in eyesight, you were no longer a stranger — you were her best friend.”
Ellis will be remembered as the “coffee lady” at Ralphs.
Ellis is survived by her brother, Jerry Loftis, and his wife, Marsha.
Ellis’ remains will be cremated and laid to rest with her mother in Illinois.
