I live on Malibu Road. This past spring, following a severe windstorm, I saw approximately 40 tumbleweeds entwined with the brush on the hillside directly across the road from my house.
The hill is not my property and I spent the better part of a day phoning various agencies about the potential fire hazard, hoping for some help.
Fire Dept., Fire Prevention Bureau, Bldg. & Safety, etc. were all very polite but passed the buck.
There’s no way for me to determine who owns the property or who is responsible to main same.
The tumbleweeds are still there. Despite recent rains and my constant watering of someone else’s land, the risk of fire persists.
I saw tumbleweeds explode like fireworks during the Malibu fire in the early ’80s; it’s still a nightmare. HELP!!!
