Richard “Dick” Mitchell” died on Oct. 8 at his Malibu home. He was 93.
Born in Whittier in 1917, Mitchell worked at Lockheed Aircraft in Burbank until his retirement. He then devoted his time to tennis. He is the past president of the Santa Monica Tennis Club.
“Dick’s recent passion is encrypted on his calling card, ‘Have dance shoes will travel,’” his son Rich said.
Mitchell was preceded in death six years ago by his wife Georgiana. He is survived by his son Rich and grandsons Mitch and Christopher.
A celebration of Mitchell’s life will take place at his home.
