City of Malibu Cultural Arts commissioner Alan Roderick-Jones was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Oceanside Film Festival, hosted by Oceanside Cultural Art Foundation, on Sunday, Aug. 13. In honoring the “Star Wars” franchise 40-year anniversary, Roderick-Jones was given the award for his work on film design.
As The Malibu Times reported back in 2015, he was a co-designer for “Star Wars Episode VI: A New Hope,” where he drafted plans for the infamous Cantina bar among other important sets in the movie.
