Malibu native Henry Stern announced his candidacy for the California State Senate, following a rousing introduction by former Malibu High School principal Pat Cairns. Stern, the senior policy advisor to State Senator Fran Pavley (who has endorsed his candidacy when her term ends in 2016), attended local Malibu schools and graduated from Harvard University and University of California Berkeley Law.Â
In December, Stern was appointed as the city’s representative to the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy Advisory Committee in a unanimous vote by City Council.
If elected, Stern, a passionate environmentalist who loves surfing and hiking in Malibu, will focus on building a more sustainable state economy to fuel California’s powerhouse industries, including entertainment, biotech, clean energy and transportation.
