Barry Gordon Landen

Barry Gordon Landen died on March 8 at Ventura Convalescent Hospital. 

Barry was born to Arnold H. and Ellen Landen on July 5, 1940 in Winnipeg, Canada. His family came to Ventura, Calif. in the early 1950s, where he graduated from Ventura High School in  1958 and Ventura College in 1969.  

Barry served in the U.S. Army at Fort Gordon, Georgia. He ended his term in the Army two weeks before his platoon was sent to Vietnam.  

Barry was a talented musician who played many instruments. He played the bass professionally in clubs in Ventura County in the 1960s and 1970s.  He also worked for the County of Ventura in the Alcohol Rehab Program and went on to work with several private programs in Ventura County. He later moved to Malibu, where he worked at Creative Care Inc. and Zuma Hardware.

Barry is survived by his sons David and Gary of Ventura, his daughter Jennifer Remijio of Irvine, and his four grandchildren Nicole, Ethan, Mikayla and Nathan. His first wife, Corine (Coltrin) Barksdale, lives in Ventura.  His second wife, Cindy, preceded him in death.
