Former Malibu resident Scott D. Deneau died Aug. 31 in Los Angeles from complications resulting from liver and kidney transplant surgery. He was 49.

Deneau was born on May 24, 1954. He lived in Malibu in the 1970s in Las Flores Canyon. His wife, Pam, helped manage Alice’s Restaurant, where they met.

As a veteran craftsman of custom woodworking, he enjoyed building and creating custom furniture pieces. He possessed a lifelong love of fishing, was an accomplished cook, an avid golfer and always the favorite grownup of any child he met. Deneau’s irrepressible spirit and charm were hallmarks of his personality, which endeared him to both new and longtime friends.

Deneau is survived by his wife, Pam; children Bryn and Joshua; father, Mike; mother, Alene; brothers Mark of Point Dume, and Jon; sister, Susan; grandson, Grant; and nephews and nieces Matthew, Zoe, Nicole, Heather, Chad, Lucas and Kelsey.
