The Malibu Association of Realtors held its second membership meeting of the year at Duke’s restaurant, with President Jan Thompson serving as master of ceremonies. Attendance was at an all-time high, with 135 members present. The breakfast meeting was sponsored by Jerel Taylor, of American Trust Escrow, who provided a flip video camera door prize. The first speaker was Kathy Mehringer, Esq., risk management training director for Coldwell Banker of Los Angeles, who brought the Realtors up to date on short sales and other hot topics. The featured speaker was Leslie Appleton Young, vice president and chief economist for the California Association of Realtors, the statewide trade organization with almost 160,000 members. Appleton Young gave a California market update.

The MAR leadership, including President Thompson, President-Elect Dan Ross, former President Bill Bowling and Association Executive Susan Manners, traveled to Sacramento June 8 for Legislation Day, an annual opportunity for Realtor representatives to meet with Sacramento legislators and attend the California Association of Realtors directors meetings.

The next membership meeting of the Malibu Realtors will be at Duke’s Sept. 21. Jeff Davi, real estate commissioner for the State of California, will be the featured speaker.
