Sharks on a frenzy

Michael Callahan sending the ball to Ben Corrodi

The Malibu High School Boys Varsity soccer team is off to a 5-2-2 record under first-year Head Coach Jeff Gardella. The team is led by seniors Zac Drapkin and Jordan King, juniors Conrad Karliss and Nate Mehring and sophomores Ben Corrodi, Harry Thomas and Noah Baltrushes. Freshman goalie Chris DeWind is doing a great job, and has already registered his first shutout against St.Bernard, 3-0.

This past week, the team tied St. Bonaventura, 2-2, lost to Pacifica and Windward. Since the opening three games, the Sharks have recorded five-straight wins against top opponents such as Carpinteria, Oak Park and Chadwick.

The Sharks open their Frontier League season on Jan. 14 at home against Santa Clara.
